Fundraising

Our Board of Directors are hands-on with recruitment ideas and fundraising. We have done everything from car washes to quilt raffles, highway litter pick-up, recycling donations at our local dump, marathon race support, door-to-door solicitations and recently a very successful fundraising dinner at the Lorne Mountain Community Centre.

In 2008, we acquired official charity status from Revenue Canada and are able to issue income tax receipts. Many of the donations we acquired have gone towards purchasing additional safety equipment and tools not provided by the Fire Marshal’s Office. In 2011, we were able to start purchasing additional life and disability insurance for our members.

The MLVFD has a friendly working relationship with the Lorne Mountain Community Association. Our firefighters make appearances at such events as Halloween, Christmas kids party and Canada Day celebrations.

We also take advantage of any opportunity to educate people about fire safety and have hands-on fire extinguisher demonstrations.
